Just had specialists weekly round ( specialists x 2, doctor, sister and day nurse) who told me I could be discharged tomorrow ! ! Can't believe it. Specialist very complimentary about my recovery and confident about the value of getting me home ! he described that on examination of the biopsy yesterday that the chemo appeared to have done it's work and that he was waiting for confirmation of the same from the samples that were sent to the marsden.
He confirmed that there were four donors identified, but that they were being slow 'coming forward', so that there would be a third course of chemo after the holidays ( nothing as strong as Ive been through) in order to keep the cells in remission until the transplant could be arranged. So I will be returning to hospital on 29th Dec to start that ( and with once/ twice weekly visits for blood tests, and a final MRI scan on my bowel to check all is ok across the weeks ).
But hey, that's still just under three weeks at home ! can't wait !
Unfortunately the same conditions must be adhered to, so Brecon will be with Jane, and the same no dogs, no kids, no coughs and colds protocol will have to be upheld.
